Cannabidiol or ‘CBD’ is an organic and naturally occurring compound that comes from the leaves, stalks, stems and the flowers of the hemp variety of the cannabis plant. CBD is non-psychoactive and should not be confused with tetrahydrocannabinol or ‘THC’, which is derived from the marijuana variety of the cannabis plant.

Charli products only use non-psychoactive hemp-derived CBD oil (which means your pet will not get high).

The cannabis plant contains over one hundred organic cannabinoids, including CBD, CBG and CBN. The cannabis plant also contains other compounds called terpenes and terpenoids. When the cannabinoids and terpenes mentioned above are consumed together, a phenomenon known as the ‘entourage effect’ produces more potent results in your pet’s body. The entourage effect proposes that the synergistic relationship between all of the cannabis plant’s compounds results in a person or an animal to take maximum advantage of the benefits of CBD. Simply put, full-spectrum CBD oil is a testament to the old saying: “the sum is greater than its parts”.

In contrast, CBD oil isolate and broad spectrum CBD oil products do not contain all of the cannabis plants’ cannabinoids and terpenes. In turn, these products do not take advantage of the ‘entourage effect’ and thus, are less effective than full-spectrum CBD oil products.

When choosing CBD oil for your dog, choosing full-spectrum CBD will achieve the most powerful results.

Similar to humans and other living beings, dogs have specific cannabinoid receptors in their brain and central nervous system comprised of what is called the endocannabinoid system. The cannabinoids found in CBD support your pet’s endocannabinoid system in the same way as humans experience the benefits of CBD, including an enhanced sense of calm, relief from anxiety, neurological support and reduced inflammation in worn and tired joints.

However, the best dosage amount and frequency for each pet is an art, not a science. That means ,most pet parents will need to experiment with the amount of CBD they give to their dog until they see the best results. Remember, every pet is unique, so some dogs will require more CBD than the recommended dosage guidelines. If you do not notice a change, it’s okay to increase the amount of CBD given, so long as this is done slowly over time.

It is extremely unlikely to give a large enough amount of CBD to seriously harm a pet. We recommend starting slow when introducing any new supplement to your dog’s diet.

The positive effects of CBD will vary from pet to pet depending on its size, shape, age and overall health. It is generally recommended to start with a lower dosage when beginning a daily regimen and adjusting as needed. The effect is cumulative, so please allow 2 to 4 weeks of regular use to see your pet’s response to CBD. Individual results may vary.

This depends on convenience and your pet’s preference. CBD oil, when administered directly into your dog’s mouth, usually will take effect in a shorter time frame (approximately 20 minutes) and can last for up to seven hours. CBD oil mixed with food may take up to two hours to take effect.

There are no side effects to our products unless your dog has an allergy to any of our ingredients listed online and on the packaging.
